Our Vision In Action
'To Protect The Kingdom Of God
for current generations and beyond'

It is our responsibility to protect the Kingdom of God
which we are all aware is under constant threat.

All people throughout the world know our planet is sick. We seek to inspire action to make it well again. To campaign against poverty, starvation, injustice, cures for disease and the end to men and women having to go to war, seems pointless without also protecting where we all live.

Reverend Nicola's family are pioneers in Environmental Issues and own one of the biggest green waste businesses in the country. As a family, they actively promote Recycling in the local area encouraging the preservation of the environment and support many charitable events which are environment based. As one time farmers, this diversification was out of conscience and concern. They have won many prestigiuos 'Green' Awards. Her niece is also an Environment officer so environmental issues and solutions are at the heart of the family. This picture is of Rev Nicola's sister, Vicky, winning the Jim Ballance Composts Marketing Award.

We seek to unite the world in justice and peace through everyone being able to have a sustainable living by encouraging a fair trade for all through actively promoting Social Responsibility within our local and wider communities.

The Parish of Holy Angels in Portsmouth regularly holds services as well as participating in HIV and AIDS awareness campaigns and fundraising.

Many of us are trained in bereavement counselling and bereavement awareness. As well as supporting individuals and families who are trying to cope with loss we also design and deliver programmes of bereavement awareness training for care staff and police service personnel.

Visiting nursing homes for people who have Alzheimer's disease and support of the families who face difficulty and heartache associated with this terrible illness. Attending care homes to offer support, Holy Communion, anointing of the sick and celebration of special days is very precious to me having lost my own mother to the illness. Support of the staff who offer the care is also an important role. I am so proud to be the chaplain to a wonderful care home for people so often forgotten by society.

We support the Armed Forces and offer Services for all those who have fallen in war and their bereaved families. Some of our clergy have served within our British Armed Forces and some are servicemen and women's children.

The Reverend John Lycett delivers an excellent and in-depth Bereavement Awareness training programme for Christian Ministers. Father Anthony, Reverend Glyn and I took part in the last programme of training. We hope it will broaden our ministry and have us available to offer support both with empathy and skill for all those who come to us in grief.

The Reverend John Lycett who is the facilitator of the bereavement training. We all owe him a great deal as his compassion and empathy for the bereaved is why his course is as inspirational and as thorough as it is.

Franciscan of the Holy Cross

Our brother, Richard, along with others in the order within our global community, strive to lead their lives according to the words and works of Jesus Christ, and by the example, ideals and spirituality of our fraternal father Saint Francis of Assisi.

They endeavor to live the evangelical life of the Gospels of Jesus Christ as proscribed by the Founder, St. Francis of Assisi under the vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience. These are the traditional three vows of most Catholic Religious Orders, taken very seriously and yet interpreted in a modern way. They are obedient to the canons and to our local bishop in the UECC and those officers and administrators that we elect to help guide our work and ministries within the Franciscans of the Holy Cross (O.F.C.)

The contact in the UK is Brother Richard-Bruno
